Moving to Paraguay offers a new adventure. This South American country of contrasts is landlocked by its bigger neighbours Brazil, Argentina and Bolivia. Paraguay offers the perfect opportunity for a new start for those who seek something different.
Though the country is still developing in many ways, it has also accomplished some remarkable things. Almost 100% of the country’s energy comes from hydroelectric plants and 94% of the adult population is literate, more than most other countries in South America. Paraguay is also one of the original 51 UN members and joined in 1945. Agriculture provides a living for about half of Paraguayans, but the government is taking measures to stop deforestation and protect the natural resources of the country.
When you move to Paraguay, you’ll be welcomed by a subtropical climate and a rich culture. The economy is growing quickly as well as local industries. Many immigrants in Paraguay work in the industrial sector or as English teachers. The country offers the unique experience of really getting away and embracing a new culture that is not yet spoiled by tourists, and where the Expat community is still relatively small.
Most Paraguayans speak Spanish, but the official language is Guarani.
Immigrants from all countries can apply for a permanent residence permit in Paraguay. The country needs skilled workers, investors and professionals and has opened its doors to Expats.
The application process will generally take about 70 days and applicants must have a clean criminal record, health check and some documents that must be applied for in Paraguay. The foreign documents that are required must be translated into Spanish.
A work permit can be obtained with a sponsorship from a local company. The work permit is bound to one employer and profession.
